Let’s learn together.
Are you interested in learning to sing? Read sheet music? Are you experiencing pain or stress or want to learn more about how your knowledge of the mind-body relationship can affect your daily life? As both a certified Alexander Technique teacher and professional musician, I teach Alexander Technique, voice lessons, and basic musicianship skills.
My teaching values
No matter what, learning a new skill should be a supportive and safe experience. As a teacher, my goal is first and foremost to ensure that my student feels safe to explore new possibilities, whether they are exploring the movement of their bodies, their vocal mechanism, or anything else that may arise in a lesson. The teacher-student relationship I strive to create is a give and take, one where any question is valued as worthy of exploration, no matter how simple the answer may seem at first.
Lessons
I currently teach lessons in two main subjects: Voice lessons and Alexander Technique. Lessons are offered in either 30-minute sessions (great for beginners or people looking to learn something specific) or 60-minute sessions (better for those who want a deeper immersion into their chosen subject).
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, all lessons are virtual via Zoom.
Alexander Technique
The Alexander Technique (AT) is a mind-body unity work that explores how our body functions on a more introspective level. We’ll look into how we do what we do, why we do the things we do, and how we can make better-informed decisions to change the way we do things. Because of the flexibility of this work, the principles of the technique are applicable to anyone who is interested in finding ways to explore their habitual patterns and learn how to freely make new choices.
Voice Lessons
As a voice teacher, my role is to help the student explore their voice as an instrument and teach them to control and support the voice, so they can make the sounds they desire in a safe and healthy way. We’ll work on vocal techniques, breath support, basic music theory, and how to learn songs.
